Los Angeles Sparks, star player Candace Parker has added herself to the record books (once again) by being the fifth WNBA player to post a triple double in a game. She scored 11 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and dished out 11 assists, as her Los Angeles Sparks team beat the San Antonio Stars 85-73, at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
Parker was drafted number one overall by the Los Angeles Sparks in 2008 (from the University of Tennessee) and went on to win rookie of the year honors that season.During her rookie season, she became only the third WNBA player (at the time) to slam dunk the basketball in a game, (she dunked against the Indiana Fever, then dunked again two days later in a game against the Seattle Storm. Since this feat, there have only been two other WNBA players to dunk in a game, Sylvia Fowles (who dunked in 2009 All Star game) and Brittany Griner who’s has dunked the ball over 10 times, which brings the total to five WNBA players to dunk in a game (Lisa Leslie, Michelle Snow, Candace Parker, Sylvia Fowles, and Brittany Griner) to ever dunk the basketball in a WNBA game.
In 2016 Candace won a WNBA championship, along with MVP honors as her Los Angeles Sparks team defeated the Minnesota Lynx 3-2 in the finals. She’s also a 4 time WNBA All Star, and the MVP of the (2013) All Star game. Candace was also the 2008, 2009 rebounding leader and a time WNBA MVP (2008,2013).
