The never-ending story of Derrick Rose “being injured” has haunted the Cleveland Cavaliers all season long. In the 12 games, that the Cavaliers have played this season. Derrick Rose has sat out five of them.
Bought in to give Lebron James some help. Rose has shown Cavs fans nothing, but he’s still unreliable!. He played in the first two games of the season. Before sitting out the next four. Comes back for the next five games. Then sits out last night against the Houston Rockets.
Now to Rose defense he is averaging 14 points a game. Plus shooting 47% shooting from the field and 90% from the free throw line. However, he still struggles from behind the three-point line. As he only makes 23% of his attempts. His 2 rebounds and 1.7 in 26 minutes of play helps my argument that the Cavs should be looking to get rid of him.
Which makes me wonder why did Cleveland even sign Rose in the first place? Whenever you have a ball dominant player like Lebron James on your roster. You should be looking for players who can shoot and defend (two things Rose isn’t known for).
So even with the NBA season being young. I still feel it’s time for the Cavs to release Rose and go find some young talent that they can develop. It’s hard to believe that as much money and resources that an NBA team has. Derrick Rose is the best they can come up with.
And yes I know Isiah Thomas will eventually be in a Cavalier uniform. But who knows how that’s going to work ?. I personally feel it’s going to take time for him to mesh with his new teammates (or maybe not).
But what we do know is going into battle with Derrick Rose in 2017-18. Is like bringing a knife to a gun fight.
