James Harden

James Harden 56 Leads Rockets Past Jazz

James Harden scored a career-high 56 points and dished out 13 assists. Eric Gordon added 20 points. Trevor Ariza chipped in 14, and Nene came off the bench to pitch in 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. As the Houston Rockets manhandles the Utah Jazz 137-110. At the Toyota Center.

James Harden fell just one point from tying the Houston Rockets record for most points by a player in a game. Calvin Murphy currently holds the honor. As  Murphy scored 57 points against the New Jersey Nets back in 1977.

However, what made Harden’s 56 points 13 assists performances so special. Was the fact that it only took him a mere 35 minutes to accomplish this feat. Harden shot 19 from 26 the field  7 from 8 from behind the three points line and 11 for 12 from the foul line (not bad).

Harden became only the second NBA player to shoot over 75 percent in a game. While scoring 50 or more points and dishing out at least 10 assists. (Wilt Chamberlain was the other).

The crowd at the Toyota Center gave Harden a big standing ovation. As they stood on their feet shouting “MVP”. An honor Harden would’ve easily won (last season). If Russell Westbrook wouldn’t have had the historic season he had last year.

Donovan Mitchell led Utah with 17 points. Rudy Gobert added 13 points, 5 rebounds, and no blocks. (Which is below his season average of  14 points  10 rebounds and 2.8 blocks)  Derrick Favors and Rodney Hood both scored 12 points and Joe Ingles chipped in 11 points. For the Utah Jazz who lost their second straight game.
