Brooklyn Nets point guard Jeremy Lin. Is reported out for the entire 2017-18 NBA season. Lin ruptured his patella tendon in his right knee. During the fourth quarter of the Nets and Pacers season opener. The Nets organization immediately offered a statement supporting lin and his recovery.
“Jeremy worked tremendously hard during the offseason and in training camp and was excited for the prospects of the team this season,” GM Sean Marks said in a statement. “We feel awful that the injury will cost him the season, however, our entire organization will be there to support Jeremy in every way possible throughout his recovery. Jeremy remains an important part of this team and will continue to contribute in a leadership role.”
Jeremy Lin has been injury prone, since the moment he put on a Brooklyn Nets uniform. In his first season with the Nets. Jeremy played in 36 games (due to injury) and averaged 14 points and 5 assist. The Nets were bad with Lin and even worse without him last season. Now that he’s out for the entire 2017-18 season. I’m trying to figure out what’s it going to take for the Nets to move on from him?. Based on the statement the Nets GM Sean Marks offered. The Nets are nowhere near giving up on Lin.
Now I know an organization is supposed to be supportive. So please forgive me if I’ sound a little insensitive but the NBA is a business, and when you bring someone in who can’t help your business. Then what’s the normal recourse? Unless Lin can come back and perform like one of the top point guards in the league. It will make no sense for the Nets to even consider resigning him. The Brooklyn Nets took a gamble on Lin and unfortunately for them they loss.
