The Los Angeles Lakers had a total of seven players reach double figures in this game (led by Julius Randle). The Lakers outscored the Detroit Pistons in every quarter of the game. This win prevented the Lakers from losing to Detroit for the fourth time in the last four meetings between the two teams.
Former Detroit Piston, Kentavious Caldwell Pope started off fast against his former team. He scored seven points and grabbed three rebounds in the first ten minutes of play. However, Caldwell Pope picked up a second foul in the first quarter and had to sit down. Pope ultimately finished the game with 13 points 6 rebounds in 27 minutes of play.
Tonight’s game finished a three-game west coast trip for the Detroit Pistons. The 5-2 Pistons beat the Los Angeles Clippers by 8 points. Then turned around and beat the World champions Golden State Warriors by eight points (24 hours later).
Tobias Harris and Reggie Jacksons both led the Pistons with 18 points apiece. Ish Smith added 12 points and 3 assists off the bench, and Andre Drummond chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds for Detroit.
The Detroit Pistons will play the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday to open a five-game homestand. While the Los Angeles Lakers will face the Portland Trailblazers on the road Thursday. Then come home to face their former number two pick D’ Angelo Russell and the Brooklyn Nets on Friday.
