According to several reports, the New York Knicks have fired team president Phil Jackson after only 3 years into his 5 years 60 million dollar deal. Jackson has been a complete disappointment (to say to least) and Knicks fans couldn’t see Jackson leave fast enough. THe Knicks went 80-166 under Jackson, and it appeared that every move that Jackson made in just New York went wrong.
He hired and fired Derek Fisher after a year in a half, despite giving him a five years 25 million dollar deal. He signed an aging Joakim Noah to a 4 year 72 million dollar deal, when Noah had just come off an injured ridden season where he only played 46 games. He publicly criticized the team’s best player Carmelo Anthony, and threaten to trade the Knicks upcoming talent Kristap Prozingis, for skipping an exiting meeting, all while falling to sleep during this years pre draft workout.
With all that said, I’m just wondering why it took the Knicks 3 years to cut ties with Jackson.
