Lakers sign Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to 1 year deal

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and the Los Angeles Lakers have reached an 1 year 18 million dollar deal. Caldwell-Pope was an unrestricted free agent for the Detroit Piston and turned down a 5 year 80 million dollar that the team offered him. The Pistons then allowed Pope to become an unrestricted free agent then made a trade with the Boston Celtics for Avery Bradley.

The Los Angeles Lakers was not interested in signing Caldwell-Pope to any deal that would go past this season because they did not want to tie any money up and hurt their chances of chasing some of the top 2018 NBA agents like Lebron James, Paul George, or Demarcus Cousins.
