LiAngelo Ball, the younger brother of Lonzo Ball, has declared for the NBA draft. Ball’s agent Harrison Gaines broke the news to Yahoo Sports.
LiAngelo Ball submitted the early-entry paperwork necessary to enter the June draft. Earlier this year, LiAngelo and his brother LaMelo signed with Vytautas Prienu, a professional Lithuanian team. Ball signed with Vytautas Prienu after leaving UCLA. LiAngelo, along with two other players, were accused of stealing sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store. Each player received an indefinite suspension in response to the allegations. Ball left UCLA without playing a game.
Ball is averaging 15.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in nine first-division Lithuanian league games. His statement came nearly hours before he scored 72 points in a Big Baller Brand Challenge game. Vytautas Prienu faced the Guangdong Southern Tigers, which is a youth team from China. His brother LaMelo also scored 36 points.
LiAngelo Ball will work out for some NBA teams and also participate in the NBA combine.
Ball is the middle brother of the Ball family. His brother Lonzo currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. Lonzo Ball was the second pick of last summer’s draft. He averages 10.2 points per game, 7.3 assists, and 7.0 rebounds. He has had an up and down season throughout the year. Their father, LaVar Ball, wants the brothers to both play on the Lakers. However, I don’t know how likely that would be. LiAngelo and LaMelo’s paths will be unlike most draft prospects. Most draft prospects go to college, and then declare for the draft. LiAngelo will be coming from overseas, and in a few years, his brother LaMelo will do the same.
LiAngelo Ball’s path will be different, but if the talent is there, the right team will find him.
