The New Orleans Pelicans just made a big statement. The Pelicans beat the Blazers 119-102.
The Pelicans were arguably the underdog in this series. They are the 6th seed, and the Blazers are the 3rd seed. The Pelicans won the first two games in Portland to take a 2-0. They just put pressure on the Blazers with a win in New Orleans. They now have a 3-0 lead on the Blazers.
Nikola Mirotic led the Pelicans with 30 points. Mirotic also shot 80% from the field. Anthony Davis scored 28 points. He also had 11 rebounds and 2 blocks. Jrue Holiday and Rajon Rondo both scored 16 points each. Rondo also had a double-double with 11 assists.
The next game of the series is on Saturday. The Blazers have an opportunity to win a game in New Orleans. They can avoid getting swept, although it seems unlikely. The Blazers are a talented team, but a 3-0 deficit is hard to bounce back from. However, anything is possible. The Blazers could take this series seriously, and bounce back. This could be the motivation Damian Lillard needs. Regardless, I don’t see the Blazers making a comeback.
The Pelicans have momentum of their side. They will go into the next game with extra motivation. They can close out the series on their home court. The Pelicans are the lower seed, but they’ve played better than the Blazers. They are one game way from doing something spectacular. It is up to them to close out the series, and they have what it takes. The Pelicans have played well all season, and it could finally be their chance to shine.
