Earlier tonight, the Toronto Raptors beat the Washington Wizards 108-98. They gained a 3-2 lead. They are potentially one game away from the second round.

DeMar DeRozan had a solid game and lead Toronto with 32 points. He shot 50% from the field, which included 3 of 4 from three-point range. Kyle Lowry posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 assists. The backcourt duo of the Raptors had a decent performance. Delon Wright scored 18 points. Jonas Valanciunas scored 14 points and 13 rebounds. Like Lowry, Valanciunas had a double-double.

The series continues on Friday in Washington. Toronto is the first seed of the Eastern Conference. If they advance to the second round, they would face the winner of the Cavs/Pacers series. The Cavs have a 3-2 over the Pacers. LeBron James hit a game winner against the Pacers. The Cavs beat the Pacers 98-95.

Although the Raptors are the higher seed, the Cavs beat the Raptors twice in the regular season. In fact, in their last face-off, the Cavs beat the Raptors 112-106. But, Toronto also beat the Cavs in their first meeting. They beat the Cavaliers 133-98. Both teams have a history with each other in the playoffs. They’ve met a few times in the playoffs prior to this year. There is a good chance they will meet again.

But, what if the Pacers win instead of the Cavs? In the event that the Pacers win, Toronto might have a better chance of winning. The Raptors beat the Pacers 3 out of 4 games. Even though the Pacers only won one game, they could still challenge Toronto.

Right now, all eyes are on Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference. They maintained the first seed throughout the regular season. The Raptors are sometimes suspect in the playoffs. Lowry and DeRozan seem to disappear. This year could finally be the year they silence their critics. Despite their previous performances, they could come together and become the Eastern Conference champs.
