“Steve Nash” former NBA player and future Hall Of Fame player. Finally got his NBA ring. However, the ring was given to him because Nash served as a consultant for the Golden State Warriors. After playing 18 seasons in the NBA and winning the NBA MVP honors twice (2005-2006). Nash admitted that winning a ring as a consultant felt “weird”.
Now I’m sure Nash appreciates receiving the ring from the Warriors, but it’s hard to believe that he feels that he really earned it.
Nash retired from the league with a career average of 14 points and 8.5 assists in 2015. Even though the numbers may not sound very impressive. Nash was an 8 time NBA All-Star. Plus led the league in assist five times in his career.
Steve Nash was originally born in South Africa before moving with his family to Canada. He attended Santa Clara University. Before being drafted by the Phoenix Suns. He played two seasons in Phoenix than was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. Nash established himself as a player in Dallas and become a two-time All-Star while there.
In 2004 Steve Nash became a free agent and returned to the Suns on a 6 year 66 million dollar deal. (The Mavericks refused to match). He helped turn a 29-53 Phoenix Suns team into a 60-22 team in just his first season there. He eventually played for the team for 8 seasons (2004-2012), before ending his career with the Los Angeles Lakers.
After retiring in 2015 Nash agreed to take a job as a consultant for the Golden State Warriors. The team set an NBA record 73-9 wins in Nash first year there, but lost to Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA finals. The Warriors regained their championship in 2017 and Steve Nash was giving an NBA championship ring.
