The NBA Playoffs Begin

After what has been an interesting season, the NBA playoffs are finally here. The first round of the NBA playoffs starts today. The top eight teams from their respective conferences will face off to reach the NBA finals.

On Wednesday, the regular season came to a close. Teams wrapped up their regular seasons and secured their playoff seedings. The regular season ended with the Houston Rockets as the first seed of the Western Conference. The Minnesota Timberwolves finished as the eighth seed of the West. In the East, the Toronto Raptors are the first seed of the East, and the Washington Wizards are the eighth seed. The Raptors and Wizards will start their series later today.

The playoffs start with the Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs. The game starts shortly at 3 pm et. The game takes place in Oakland. The Warriors are the higher seed and have home-court advantage over the Spurs.  While this may be a decent series, the Warriors will likely win this series.

The second game is the Toronto Raptors versus the Washington Wizards. As I mentioned, the Raptors are the first seed. The Wizards will be without Jodie Meeks, who was suspended for violating the NBA’s drug policy. His suspension is 25 games, and it begins today. Although, it probably will not make a difference. The Raptors will likely win this series.

The third game is between the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat. The 76ers are slightly shorthanded due to Joel Embiid’s injury. However, the Sixers are fresh off a 16-game winning streak. The Sixers have the opportunity to win the series and advance to the second round.

The final game is between the Portland Trailblazers and the New Orleans Pelicans. This will probably be an underrated series. Both teams are talented,  but not well known. The Blazers and Pelicans will be a good series, and one to keep an eye on.

Overall, this will be a good playoff and a good opening day.
